Learn how to recognize these different brain wave states so you can identify different states of consciousness when you’re in meditation.ĭiscover the key differences between Gamma, Beta, Alpha, Theta, and Delta brainwave patterns and the relationship between brain waves and meditation in this overview video:īrain science is complex stuff, but interesting and well worth investigating further, of course, that’s made all the easier with the wearable EEG headsets available today, so let’s examine them: 1. Newborns sleep in this stage, adults less so. Delta Waves – (0.1 – 3.9 Hz) - When in a deep, dreamless sleep.Theta Waves – (4 – 7.9 Hz) - Dreaming sleep (REM), this is the goal for meditation or self-hypnosis. Alpha Waves – (8 – 13.9 Hz) - Relaxed, daydreaming, and meditation.Beta Waves – (14 – 30 Hz) - The awake state.Gamma Waves – (31 Hz+) - Hyper alert, good for insights and higher learning. The activity measured using EEG can be very detailed and complex, and dependent on the area of the brain, but a great place to start is the different levels of activity we can find: It measures voltage fluctuations from ionic current flows within the neurons of the brain. They’re small bands that sit easily on your head and measure brainwave activity through small sensors.ĮEG stands for Electroencephalography, but you’ll be forgiven for not remembering that. Neurofeedback headsets measure your brain waves using a technology called EEG. This comes at no cost to you (in some cases you get a discount) and it helps support do-it-yourself biohacking guides like this one. Transfer pricing salary12/30/2023 ![]() ![]() introduction of a one-time dispute resolution scheme for income tax matters in 2020.introduction of advance pricing agreement (APA) whereby Indian companies can pre-agree with the tax authorities about the price or basis of pricing transactions with their related parties abroad for as long as nine years.issuance of safe harbour rules for certain companies in information technology and pharma sector. The government, too, has recognised this issue and taken steps to mitigate this by providing alternative avenues to mitigate this. The information technology sector, which has been the shining star of Indian entrepreneurship over the past three decades, has seen significant cases of litigation under transfer pricing provisions. Even today, transfer pricing cases feature among the most litigated before the appellate authorities. Examples are excessive royalty payment to foreign group companies, corporate guarantee fees, brand promotion expenses, situs of IP, etc. Several interesting issues have been heavily litigated in India under the transfer pricing provisions. ![]() This further limits the interest deduction, besides the arm’s length interest test requirement. Debt transactions involving high leverage in India are targeted additionally by focused thin-capitalisation rules (rules made to prevent businesses from using debt financing or international debt shifting for tax planning reasons). Certain capital transactions such as capital infusion may also get covered as per the recent budget proposals surrounding angel tax (seeking to tax excess premium on allotment of shares to non-residents), though they may not have a material impact for businesses so long as valuation aspects are appropriately adhered to. The application of transfer pricing rules extends to all cross-border transactions such as royalty payment, purchase and sale of goods and intellectual property transfer. The transfer pricing framework here also levies additional tax on notional interest computed thereon or alternatively necessitates payment of incremental tax. It requires actual repatriation of the flow of cash to India because it treats the arm’s length adjustments as a deemed loan transaction. Notably, India’s transfer pricing framework under the Income Tax Act, 1961, not only aims at enhancing the income and tax based on the arm’s length differences but also goes one step further.

What we are left with, though, is so vivid and authentic that no carefully polished novel could compete with it. Ferrante’s prose is bare the language takes a back seat and is nothing more than a tool to the narrative that is pushed forward by its own urgency. Neither do they have time for stylistic flourishes. These books defiantly ignore all creative writing advice and cheerfully tell and not show, abandon all sensible plot structure and introduce as many characters as they feel like, not really caring whether that whole cast is in any way necessary. Additionally, Knausgaard has happily joined the marketing circus, which is why I find Ferrante’s presumed exhibitionism a lot more palatable. The autobiographical component is official in case of Knausgaard and alleged in Ferrante’s. Personally, I find this whole mystery of little interest as I share her view that all that the author wants to say she should say in the book and there is no need for the entire marketing circus.įerrante’s Naples novels have been compared to Knausgaard’s magnum opus because both authors can be characterised by their hyperreal scrutiny which seemingly can only be achieved in autobiographical novels. No review of Ferrante’s book is complete without a mention of how no one knows who Ferrante is or even if she exists as an individual woman at all. So despite the terrible cover, and a rather idiotic blurb I knew it would be a fine book. Before you start wondering what sort of wonderful place I worked at, let me clarify it was a literary agency, so such things were totally commonplace. In fact, everyone in the office received a copy – that’s how much our boss wanted us to read it. I received this book as a Christmas present from my boss over a year ago. ![]() With My Brilliant Friend she has given her readers an abundant, generous, and masterfully plotted page-turner that is also a stylish work of literary fiction destined to delight readers for many generations to come. “A large, captivating, amiably peopled bildungsroman,” writes James Wood in The New Yorkerįerrante is one of the world’s great storytellers. ![]() “Spectacular,” says Maureen Corrigan on NPR’s Fresh Air. “An intoxicatingly furious portrait of enmeshed friends,” writes Entertainment Weekly. Through the lives of these two women, Ferrante tells the story of a neighborhood, a city, and a country as it is transformed in ways that, in turn, also transform the relationship between her protagonists. Book one in the series follows Lila and Elena from their first fateful meeting as ten-year-olds through their school years and adolescence. An English-language stage adaptation that encompasses the entire quartet is currently on in London.Soon to be an HBO series, book one in the New York Times bestselling Neapolitan quartet about two friends growing up in post-war Italy is a rich, intense, and generous-hearted family epic by Italy’s most beloved and acclaimed writer, Elena Ferrante, “one of the great novelists of our time.” (Roxana Robinson, The New York Times)īeginning in the 1950s in a poor but vibrant neighborhood on the outskirts of Naples, Ferrante’s four-volume story spans almost sixty years, as its protagonists, the fiery and unforgettable Lila, and the bookish narrator, Elena, become women, wives, mothers, and leaders, all the while maintaining a complex and at times conflictual friendship. ![]() Mercifully, the show will be filmed in Italian, not English. No casting announcements have yet been made, but the series begins shooting in Naples this summer, which seems like a perfect opportunity to send some relatively unknown Neapolitan actresses to stardom. Costanzo will also direct all eight episodes. Francesco Piccolo, Laura Paolucci and Saverio Costanzo will write the episodes alongside the now not-so-enigmatic Ferrante herself. ![]() “An exploration of the complicated intensity of female friendship, these ambitious stories will no doubt resonate with the HBO audience,” said HBO’s programming chief Casey Bloys, in a statement. HBO’s press release only addresses the adaptation of My Brilliant Friend, but since the original plan has always been to adapt the entire quartet, there is the potential for HBO to later pick up adaptations of the novel’s three sequels, The Story of a New Name, Those Who Leave and Those Who Stay, and The Story of the Lost Child.

Religion dom definition12/30/2023 This stage usually starts in late adolescence (18 to 22 years old). For all people in this stage, religious authority resides mostly outside of them personally. For older adolescents and adults in this stage, authority resides with friends and religious community. For younger adolescents, that authority still resides mostly with their parents and important adults. Issues of religious authority are important to people at this stage. However, the faith that is claimed is usually still the faith of their family. People at this stage claim their faith as their own instead of just being what their family does. This means that they can also imagine what others think about them and their faith. With abstract thinking comes the ability to see layers of meaning in the stories, rituals and symbols of their faith.Īt this stage people start to have the ability to see things from someone else's perspective. What were once simple unrelated stories and rituals can now be seen as a more cohesive narrative about values and morals. Unlike previous stages, people at this stage are able to think abstractly. However, some people stay at this stage for their entire life. Generally starts about the age of 13 and goes until around 18. Later in this stage children begin to have the capacity to understand that others might have different beliefs than them. Faith becomes the stories told and the rituals practiced. At this stage it is because children think in concrete and literal ways. Like the previous stage, faith is something to be experienced. Stage 2: Mythic-Literal FaithĬhildren at this age are able to start to work out the difference between verified facts and things that might be more fantasy or speculation.Īt this age children's source of religious authority starts to expand past parents and trusted adults to others in their community like teachers and friends. In this way children become involved with the rituals of their religious community by experiencing them and learning from those around them. ![]() As Robert Keeley writes: "These children cannot think like a scientist, consider logical arguments, or think through complex ideas."įaith is not a thought-out set of ideas, but instead a set of impressions that are largely gained from their parents or other significant adults in their lives. The cognitive development of children of this age is such that they are unable to think abstractly and are generally unable to see the world from anyone else's perspective. Through loving care from parents and other adults in their life young children start to build a lived experience of trust, courage, hope and love.Īt this stage, children experience faith as a connection between themselves and their caregiver. Have the potential for faith but lack the ability to act on that potential. Generally children from birth through about 2 years of age. Based on the work of James Fowler, author of Stages of Faith Pre-Stage: Undifferentiated Faith

In addition to the ability to throw windows from one screen to another with a keyboard shortcut. Tile applications with ⌘⌃ and then arrow keys to tile to upper, lower, right and left halreve of screenīut Rectangle really ges detailed your some great shortcuts for handling tiled windows, it basically gives you keyboard shortcuts for the new ca→↑➡talina modes and also it implements the Windows behavior where moving a window close to edge causes it to tile to that half.Close all windows of the current application with ⌘⌥W.Minimize all windows of an application with ⌘⌥M.They actually have a good basic set now, so you can: Since Catalina, they've added a bunch of modes that are like iPadOS for Split View, so you can use that to create a two panes for instance just by clicking on the green icon, see more by hovering over the green icon and or holding the option key while hovering for some more. There is a little green icon at the upper left of each Mac Window which does this. The best way to use Spaces I've found is for things like looking at separate Screen shares since trying to jam two screens is hard, the best thing to do is to maximize the screen sharing window. Note that I can't find a keyboard shortcut to push an application from one space to another, it says that you can just hold it at the edge, but with Ventura, this enables Window snapping to create a tile that is on the right or left side (a la the Windows behavior). And ^⇩ shows you all the spaces at the top and you can drag windows and ^⇩ will show you all the windows available for the current application. But very conveniently, ⌃⇨ and ⌃⇦ will move you between spaces (that is CTRL-Left Arrow and CTRL-Right Arrow). Spaces gives you a bunch of virtual desktops and with the Mac touchpad, just doing a three finger swipe left or right moves you. ![]() But if you have a full screen applications then there are some really convenient ones: Using Spaces with Ctrl-Arrow keys Songs from the Apple Music catalog cannot be burned to a CD.Ok, time once again for figuring out how to be productive to the max on the Mac, so first asking ChatCPT3, so straight from the collective mouth of the Internet and then culling to the most useful ones, but the ones that I use most often are ⌘-⌥- left and right arrow will move applications into the top, bottom, left and right halves.

Parts of a frog inside12/29/2023 ![]() ![]() Adult frogs live in fresh water and on dry land some species are adapted for living underground or in trees.įrogs typically lay their eggs in water. Their skin varies in colour from well- camouflaged dappled brown, grey and green to vivid patterns of bright red or yellow and black to show toxicity and ward off predators. Frogs have glandular skin, with secretions ranging from distasteful to toxic. Warty frog species tend to be called toads, but the distinction between frogs and toads is informal, not from taxonomy or evolutionary history.Īn adult frog has a stout body, protruding eyes, anteriorly-attached tongue, limbs folded underneath, and no tail (the tail of tailed frogs is an extension of the male cloaca). They are also one of the five most diverse vertebrate orders. ![]() Frogs account for around 88% of extant amphibian species. Frogs are widely distributed, ranging from the tropics to subarctic regions, but the greatest concentration of species diversity is in tropical rainforest. The oldest fossil "proto-frog" Triadobatrachus is known from the Early Triassic of Madagascar, but molecular clock dating suggests their split from other amphibians may extend further back to the Permian, 265 million years ago. Variegated golden frog ( Mantella baroni) in the Ranomafana National Park of MadagascarĪ frog is any member of a diverse and largely carnivorous group of short-bodied, tailless amphibians composing the order Anura (ἀνούρα, literally without tail in Ancient Greek).

Bottom teeth diagram12/29/2023 ![]() 4,5 This technique is assumed to be more accurate than the tooth replacement and wear technique since the age estimation is conducted and assigned in a laboratory setting. The cementum annuli technique uses a cross section of a primary incisor (two front teeth) of the deer to count the number of “rings.” This technique rests on the principle that a white-tailed deer will have annual growth “rings,” similar to growth rings of a tree, which indicate age. Although undocumented, genetics and individual health may also contribute to variation. 3 For instance, a white-tailed deer that feeds primarily on clover in loamy soils, may have less tooth wear than a deer that feeds primarily on twigs during the winter in the northeastern United States. However, this technique for aging deer may suffer inaccuracies due to variation in nutrition, amount of grit on vegetation, and soil types. ![]() ![]() Tooth wear criteria use a series of comparisons of tooth characteristics to assign the age and will be explained later in the paper. After 1.5-years-old tooth wear is used to determine the age. 2 Tooth eruption and replacement of temporary teeth by permanent teeth can indicate the age of the deer up to 1.5 years old. The most common technique for aging white-tailed deer is tooth replacement and wear, developed by C.W. Tooth Replacement and Wear versus Cementum Annuli The tooth replacement and wear technique may be utilized in the field, whereas the cementum annuli technique requires the collection of teeth and laboratory analysis. There are two widely used techniques for aging white-tailed deer: (1) tooth replacement and wear and (2) cementum annuli. Metrics such as body weight, antler development, and reproductive rates are most meaningful when paired with the age of the deer to provide context for each metric. In order to effectively manage deer, it is important to have metrics that provide evidence of success towards specific management objectives. 1 Deer population management is important to maintain the health of deer herds and to protect their habitats from the effects of overpopulation. White-tailed deer ( Odocoileus virginianus) are the most hunted and economically important game species in North America.
